3 things to know about me

- I went to university :

Before I came back to my first passion for horses, I went on quite a long trip through the lands of university. As a matter of fact, it gave me a strong methodology and a sense of synthetical organization. The need to analyse and the search for understanding govern all my decisions and strategies.

If there is a « why » to every reaction a horse can have, then there is a « how » that will help us to find a way to improve the horse-human relationship.

- I have a BPJEPS degree, specialized in horseriding, since 2010 :

Passing this degree made me realize how passionnate I am about teaching and transmitting knowledge in general.

My idea of teaching is that a positive and encouraging learning environment can be so much more prolific than a tendency to rebuke and belittle.

Putting successes first, even when incomplete, and targetting points yet to improve allows the rider to focus his mind on the right feeling. On the contrary, focusing on what is wrong cannot guide the mind to go towards what is beneficiable but stresses what must be ran away. If attention is focused on escaping, it is not turned to the expected desirable result.

Kindness and encouragement do not hinder technical precision and rigor but helps both rider and horse to commit to what they are asked to do.

As I am no psychic, I ask a lot of questions to my pupils along every lesson, way more than I give them answers.

My goal is to induce them to get curious, autonomous in their reflexions and logical in the choice of their education processes. To me, this is the key to independence…

That being said, if the student surpasses the master, I am exquisitely delighted !

- I am a trainee teacher of the School of Lightness since 2016 :

After passing my BPJEPS degree, I discovered that school, created in 2004, by M. Philippe Karl, former squire of the Cadre Noir of Saumur.

And soon enough, I started to uphold it as, to me, this school gathers the ideals of respect, knowledge, skills which every horse person should display.

The instruction given by M. Karl is highly rich, logical and consistent, from the young horse at breaking-in to the perfectly educated to Haute Ecole aged horse.

Moretheless, this constitutes a global philosophy that can adapt to any kind of horses (breed, age, morphology, use…) as it does not try to fit any individual into a box. The common thread is lightness, which every horse and rider is capable of.

Lightness, as refered to in horseriding, is a clear concept, that requires precision and reactivity, and that is useful in all disciplines because it ensures an optimal balance and a perfect relaxation from the horse at any time.

Its applications are boundless and it helps for classical dressage as much as for jumping, outdoor riding, in-hand work or every discipline that needs a perfect availability and maneuvrability of the horse by the rider.

These 3 key-points are fundamental during my lessons and in my approach to horses and riders.

I give priority to finding concrete and efficient solutions as fast as possible. These solutions are always beneficiable to both partners and are never obtained with harmful devices (tightened nosebands or –enrênements--???).

The use of force is prohibited as relaxation of the horse is sought in the aim of getting its full cooperation.
